Autodesk announced AutoCAD as a commercial product in May 1982. It was introduced for the Apple II and Macintosh platforms in December 1982. Version 1.0 was released in the winter of 1982, and version 2.0 was released in January 1986.
The original Apple II software sold for US$500 and originally shipped with a rack-mounted Power Picture Printer PP600. The graphics board was manufactured by C-Impex. The monitor was a 400 x 200 pixel CRT video display. The operating system was the original Lisa (also known as LISA) operating system.
The Macintosh version of AutoCAD was shipped with either a software-only model, known as the Graphic System Interface (GSI) or the Power Macintosh computers, which were introduced in 1984. The GSI model was sold for US$800, and the Power Macintosh version was sold for US$1400.
Other than the Power Macintosh, the models of Macintosh computers with a dedicated graphics controller were also available. These included the Macintosh IIcx (US$1000), IIci (US$1500), IIvx (US$2000), IIfx (US$3000), IIps (US$2000), IIvii (US$2500), IIxi (US$3300), and IIxj (US$2800). The Macintosh IIci also shipped with a disk-based version of AutoCAD, called AutoCAD GraphiX.
At the time of AutoCAD 2.0, the Apple IIe’s 6502 processor could not handle the demands of the graphics engine and did not meet the needs of the CAD market. The same was true of the Macintosh IIci. The Apple Macintosh, with its Motorola 68000 processor, was a suitable platform for CAD, and was adopted for CAD software releases that were released after 1987.
While the original Apple II and the first generation of Macintosh computers required a special graphics adapter board to run AutoCAD, the Macintosh II could run AutoCAD with the Graphics Programming System (GPS), a software package that allowed the Macintosh to run graphics software, such as AutoCAD, as well as other programs.

Now a sweet redolent elixir is being made from the oil, in a home-based production which produces pure olive oil from the fresh, undamaged leaves and stems of black olives, as well as its famous counterpart, extra virgin.
The unique product, called an olive balm, is the creation of Thomas and Ulla Zekas, a couple from rural Lindos, on the southern island of Rhodes, where they live with their four children.
The pair first made olive balm last year in a dark and gloomy shed as a “holiday project”.
Now they have relocated to a small barn where they are producing quantities of the sweet nectar, a concoction of aromas including cinnamon, orange blossom and rose petals.
Although olive oil is widely considered to be the best for cooking, the Zekas are marketing their balm as a means of “drinking with health”.
The oil produced by the process is high in antioxidants, especially carotene, which is why it is mainly used for raw cooking.
The recipe requires no heating, but a few hours of resting – usually in a dark and cool space – for the essential oils to release.

Severely sick neonates are at a high risk of developing bacterial infection with possible sequels. The differential diagnosis between bacterial and viral infections can be difficult for several reasons.

Materials and methods
The newborns of our hospital are all screened for Group B Streptococci (GBS), in case of positive samples, antibiotic prophylaxis is administered. Screening for GBS is performed on blood culture bottles, inoculated with 5 mL of blood, using a semi-automated instrument, BD BACTEC FX (Becton Dickinson, MD, USA). The detection of bacteria is confirmed by the presence of β-hemolysis on the Gram stain of the blood culture bottle. A positive culture, indicating an early bacterial infection, is defined by the growth of a pathogen within the first 24 hours of incubation. We retrospectively evaluated all blood cultures performed on neonates in the period January 2006-December 2007.
Seventy-four blood cultures on neonates were performed during the study period. A total of 524 blood cultures were evaluated. At least one positive blood culture was found in 40 cases. Blood cultures resulted positive for GBS in 14 cases, while 3 other cases were positive for Streptococcus pyogenes. The remaining 17 cases were all negative for blood cultures. In the two cases of S. pyogenes infection, GBS was also detected by blood culture. In our experience, positive blood cultures are found more frequently in cases of sepsis and/or infection with S. pyogenes. The detection of GBS in blood culture is not specific for a bacterial infection, and other pathogens can cause the same symptoms, as well as the concurrent presence of both bacterial and viral infections.
The detection of GBS in blood cultures is not specific for a bacterial infection and the incubation time is limited. In our opinion, blood cultures are not useful in the differential diagnosis between bacterial and viral infection in neonates.
