C# WPF combobox selected value resetting
When I update the selected value of my combobox and then select a new value it resets to the original selected value.
Sample code below.
public void UpdateSelections(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e)
var cbo = (ComboBox)sender;
var defaultSelection = cbo.SelectedValue;
cbo.Items.Add(new ComboBoxItem(“new value”, defaultSelection));
cbo.SelectedValue = defaultSelection;
Use SelectedValuePath=”DisplayMemberPath” instead of SelectedValue.
You have to change the DisplayMemberPath property instead of the SelectedValue.
By default the SelectedValue property is bound to the DataContext’s SelectedValue and the DisplayMemberPath property is bound to the DataContext’s SelectedValuePath. So if your DataContext has a SelectedValue property, it sets the SelectedValue property of the combo box. If your DataContext has a SelectedValuePath property, it sets the DisplayMemberPath property of the combo box.
In your sample code, DisplayMemberPath is bound to the DataContext’s SelectedValuePath property. After you changed the DataContext’s SelectedValuePath property, the SelectedValue property will no longer be bound to it and will reset to its original value. But the DisplayMemberPath property will still be bound to the DataContext’s SelectedValuePath property and will still point to the new SelectedValue.
I was browsing the web today and found this amazing site created by Luke Mondeck of www.qoof.com. It’s a QR code generator that will print a highly detailed QR code on any fabric. It uses a specialized print pattern that only a few laser printers have. This code is so detailed it could be used
